COLUMBIA, Mo. — Gov. Mike Kehoe released budget recommendations for fiscal year 2027 during his State of the State address Tuesday, which showed his administration’s continued commitment to higher education and the ҹӰԺ System.

“The ҹӰԺ Board of Curators is grateful that Governor Kehoe continues to prioritize education, workforce development, research and extension to all Missourians through his continued financial support of our students, scholars, researchers and staff,” said UM Board of Curators Chair Todd Graves. “I speak for the board and all leaders in the UM System when I express my gratitude for his ongoing commitment to our universities’ impact.”

“The ҹӰԺ System proudly generates billions in economic impact for our great state,” UM President Mun Choi said. “Governor Kehoe’s recommendations would allow us to continue our important land-grant mission and immediately make a difference in Missouri communities. We look forward to working with legislative leaders to ensure the governor's priorities are reflected in the final budget this June.”

The governor’s recommendations are the first step of the FY 2027 budget process. The Missouri General Assembly will deliberate on the governor’s recommendations over the coming months. The legislature is scheduled to send budget bills to the governor by May 8 for his approval.
